Tilda Swinton's Career Mistake

Tilda Swinton thinks her career in film was a ''mistake'' as she never intended to get into acting.

Tilda Swinton views her career as a "major mistake".

The 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' actress insists she is not interested in acting and claims she has never had aspirations to do well in the film business.

She said: "I'm really not interested in acting. Still not. And I've given up waiting for an epiphany of interest to strike.

"Acting is a red herring and a major mistake and I'm still trying to get back on track.

"I always feel guilty because then I have to feel that I have to declare I never intended to have a career. I find it admirable and awe-inspiring, this idea of shooting an arrow with a threat attached way into the future then pulling yourself up, but I never had that."

Tilda admits she considers every project she does to be her last and is looking forward to retiring as soon as possible.

She added: "Every time I'm in a film, I'm determined it's the last film I'm in and then I'll fall into a conversation with someone and we'll cook up a new scheme. Being part of a group has kept me in this because if I wasn't making films I'd be by myself a lot. And basically, it's gone on for 20 years but I'm hoping to pull it to a close shortly.

"I'm not going, 'Where are the films?' because I don't want there to be films. It's not like I'm looking for opportunities to do things. I would like an opportunity to have a good sleep and get on with some writing."

Emma Stone's Help With Learning

Emma Stone believes starring in 'The Help' allowed her to learn about the civil rights movement in the 1960s.

Emma Stone learnt about the civil rights movement "in tandem" with her 'The Help' character.

The 'Easy A' actress portrays a journalist named Skeeter who decides to write a book from the point of view of the black maids during the 1960s race equality struggles, and she admits she was lacking knowledge about the real life situations until she took part in the Tate Taylor-directed project.

She told BANG Showbiz: "Skeeter is learning about the truth and the reality of every day life of these women, as I was. I felt like we were learning in tandem about that because I have been educated on the most well known stories of the era but not the day to day life of the ordinary woman experiencing this. "Getting to live in the south and play Skeeta and was really so enriching for my life, not only as an actor but as me."

However, she has "no idea" if she would be brave enough to do the same should she have lived during the time.

Asked if she could have done what her character does, Emma responded: "You know what's great about a film or a character or a part in another time period is that I can say, 'Absolutely! Yes! Definitely!' No, I have no idea. I would hope so. And putting myself in Skeeter's position and in the character I imagined it all the time but you don't know what you don't know, you know?"

He told Welsh newspaper The Western Mail: "Hopefully we can do this every year to remember his legacy, that's something that we enjoy doing."

Tito and other members of Michael's family band, The Jackson 5, are set to perform during the course of the evening, and he the late star's children, Prince, 14, Paris, 13, and Blanket, nine may even make an appearance onstage, although they will not perform or sing.

Tito added: "The children are so glad to be [in England], they're going to have a great time. They might be on the stage.

"Come the finale they might be on the stage, you never know. It's a spontaneous reaction, whatever happens, happens."

Tito also talked about how he feels Michael would want his legacy to be remembered.

He added: "People ask, 'What do you think Michael represented when he was here on earth?' and my first answer is not music but his heart, what he did for people, how he tried to change the world and make the world a better place."

Lucy Liu Is Fascinated By Religion

Lucy Liu is open to studying different religions - because people's beliefs and faith can help them overcome various difficulties in their lives.

Lucy Liu is fascinated by religion - because it can help people overcome problems in their lives.

The actress is open to all faiths, including controversial ones like Scientology and Kabbalah, because she believes if they can help individuals deal with issues that make them unhappy then that can only be a positive thing.

Lucy - who has attended Kabbalah courses at the religion's centre in New York - said: "I think it's unfortunate when people are against something that can bring so much guidance for people. I don't know much about Scientology - I know a little bit about it - but if it helps someone become less addicted to something, or not addicted, or if it helps someone recover from abuse, you can never say it's bad.

"Anything that has an odd or misinterpreted name. People malign the Catholic Church for sexual abuse and the discrepancies of wealth, but they just don't know. Or there's the same idea about people being Muslim. If you don't know enough about it, if it's scary and it's the unknown, it creates that enigmatic quality of distance, of disconnect, and I think that prevents you seeing someone else. You've already seen them before you've actually even met them."

The 'Charlie's Angels' star is happy to acknowledge she has studied Kabbalah - the mystical off-shoot of Judaism which has many celebrity followers including Madonna and Demi Moore - and is also intrigued by Buddhism which her mother is a devout believer.

Lucy - who has just opened her art show, 'Seventy Two', at London's Salon Vert Gallery - told The Guardian newspaper: "I had friends that were studying it (Kabbalah). It reminds me of Taoism. It's mind over matter, essentially, and I'm fascinated by that. But I'm also fascinated by Buddhism - my mother's a Buddhist. There are so many different things to study, so many different fragments that come together."

Anna Faris has revealed her husband Chris Pratt bought her a gun for her birthday.

Anna Faris' husband bought her a gun for her birthday.

The actress loves that her spouse Chris Pratt is a real man's man who likes hunting and he surprised her when she turned 34 with her own firearm.

She revealed: "When we started dating he was really charming and he took care of me. We both grew up in the same area - there's something really wonderful about that. And he's a dude. He likes to hunt and fish, and wear camouflage. He got me a gun for birthday. I like that he's a man. It's hard to find in Hollywood!"

Anna and Chris - who married in July 2009 - first met on the set of 'Take Me Home Tonight' and the blonde beauty admits she wasn't the only girl vying for his attention before she eventually made a move on him.

The Hollywood star - who appears in her new movie 'What's Your Number?' with her 32-year-old husband - said: "We met doing a movie called 'Take Me Hone Tonight'. He was sleeping with a bunch of other girls on set, and we were friends, but I liked him. After a while it was like, 'You know I'd like to date you.' And so we've been together ever since then - we just don't talk about the other girls!"

Celeb News » Josephine De La Baume Loved Picking Wedding Dress

Josephine De La Baume Loved Picking Wedding Dress

Josephine De La Baume loved every one of her wedding dress fittings in the build-up to her marriage to producer Mark Ronson.

Mark Ronson's wife Josephine De La Baume loved choosing her wedding dress.

The model-and-actress tied the knot with the music producer at a ceremony in Aix-en-Provence, France, and she insists she enjoyed every minute of creating her bridal gown, which was embellished with pearls and a cropped veil.

Josephine - who was born near to where the ceremony was held - told Elle magazine: "My wedding dress was designed by my friend Zac Posen. We had the same vision from the start and every fitting was fun - it means so much to me that it was made with love and attention. Zac can make any woman look glamorous. He studies the person rather than just dressing them in a design."

The 28-year-old beauty - who is the singer in the band SINGTANK - has also revealed her fashion inspiration is the actress Lauren Bacall.

Josephine became entranced with the Hollywood legend when she was growing up and her glamorous style has stayed with her throughout her life.

She explained: "My style icon is Lauren Bacall. I used to copy her when I was seven and I first watched her in movies. She's the ultimate androgynous woman, but still really sexy. It's the balance between wearing men's jackets and her deep voice, with that soft, feminine hair."

Celeb News » Leann Rimes Ends Weightloss Feud With U.S. Tv Star Over Drinks

Leann Rimes Ends Weightloss Feud With U.S. Tv Star Over Drinks

Country singer Leann Rimes has ended her feud with the TV presenter who sparked debate about her apparent weightloss after joining her for a drink.

Giuliana Rancic upset the Blue singer last month (Aug11) when she suggested the newlywed was looking too thin during an interview with TheHuffingtonPost.com.

Her remarks prompted bloggers and tabloid reporters to take a closer look at Rimes' frame, and led to stories suggesting the singer had an eating disorder - claims the young star has denied.

The two women then exchanged barbs online before Rancic suggested they meet up for cocktails.

That get together took place on Tuesday (04Oct11), and now the feuding females are fast friends.

Rancic tells E! News, the show she fronts, "I'm happy we finally got together and put this whole fiasco behind us. We had a really nice time and I hope to see her again soon."

And Rimes took to Twitter.com on Wednesday (05Oct11) to let her followers know the feud between her and the TV presenter is over, by tweeting Rancic, "So amazing to talk to you over drinks. I adore you! You are beautiful and we were meant to meet for a reason."

Celeb News » Joss Stone Slept In Studio To Record Superheavy Album

Joss Stone Slept In Studio To Record Superheavy Album

British soul singer Joss Stone was forced to sleep in the studio while recording her new Superheavy project with Sir Mick Jagger - because the busy stars couldn't afford any downtime.

The pair teamed up with former Eurythmics star Dave Stewart, Bob Marley's son Damian, and composer A.R. Rahman to form the supergroup, but they were so pressed for time, Stone decided to turn the recording studio into her makeshift home.

Jagger tells People magazine, "We set up two blocks of 10 days in a room together, no downtime. Joss slept in the studio. I came in one day and said, 'Joss, wake up! Have some coffee!'"

The Rolling Stones frontman insists the intense music-making sessions for their self-titled album worked out well, although not every day was as smooth as others.

He adds, "Everyone was encouraged to put their ideas on the table and not be shy. Of course, not everything was brilliant. But it was really cool."

Celeb News » Joel Schumacher - Trespass Set Was Like A Hospital Ward As Cage & Kidman Got Intense

Joel Schumacher - Trespass Set Was Like A Hospital Ward As Cage & Kidman Got Intense

Moviemaker Joel Schumacher was glad to have a military medic on the set of his new film Trespass because his "intense" stars were always getting injured.

The director reveals Cam Gigandet, Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman were left battered and bruised following the film's most dramatic and violent scenes - and he was glad there was someone nearby who could stitch them up.

Schumacher tells WENN, "I was gonna put a card at the end of the movie saying, 'No animals were hurt making this movie but every actor in it was!'

"Nic (Cage) got a very mild concussion when Ben (Mendelsohn) slammed him on the floor in one scene at the beginning and Ben cut his eye open in another scene. Nicole was just black, blue and purple (bruised). Cam smashed this subzero refrigerator so hard in frustration he ripped the top of his hand off.

"We always had a medic, who was an ex-military medic, on set just in case anyone got hurt. There were accidents and no one planned them but when you have actors with this intensity they don't stop; they get lost in it."

And it was Kidman, who plays the victim of Gigandet and Mendelsohn's violent intruders in the film, who was the one calling for her male co-stars to treat her rough.

Schumacher adds, "Nicole felt sometimes they weren't being rough enough with her and her character could've gotten away, so she would say to them, 'No, that's not hard enough.'

"There's a scene where Jordana Spiro, who plays Ben's stripper girlfriend, is holding a gun on her and she is grabbing her by the hair and I remember after the first take Nicole said to Jordana, 'You know, you have to grab my hair much harder because I can pull away from you.' Nicole was great. I was not crazy about her doing her own stunts but she was down for it."
